Rich Cundiff

Richard Cundiff serves as Chief Legal Officer of Future Standard and is a member of the firm’s Management Committee. He brings nearly 30 years of experience in law and financial services, including more than two decades advising leading asset managers on fiduciary, regulatory and governance matters across alternative and traditional investment products.

Prior to joining Future Standard, Mr. Cundiff was a Managing Director at BlackRock, where he served as Global Head of Alternatives Legal. In that role, he led a global team of legal professionals supporting private equity, infrastructure, real estate, credit, hedge funds and multi-alternative strategies. He advised senior leadership on a broad range of matters, including strategic initiatives, regulatory change, conflicts management and significant business and market events, and served on BlackRock’s Global Operating Committee.

Before BlackRock, Mr. Cundiff spent eight years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where he led legal coverage for the firm’s institutional asset management and hedge fund businesses. He began his legal career in the corporate department of Cravath, Swaine & Moore.

Mr. Cundiff earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, with highest distinction, from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
