FS hosts Drexel University Therapy Dogs

PHILADELPHIA, May 1, 2023 — On April 26, FS Heroes hosted an event featuring Janine Erato, coordinator of the therapy dogs program at Drexel University, and her two cane corso therapy dogs, Espresso and Mocha. Event participants learned about the use of therapy dogs as mental wellness support and made dog toys and blankets to be donated to a local animal shelter.

The event was organized by Drexel co-op students in the winter 2022 term. Janine Erato and  FS Heroes Chair and veteran, Bill Mann, gave a presentation on PTSD in the military community and beyond and how therapy dogs can support mental health efforts.

The use of therapy dogs to help address some symptoms of PTSD is quickly gaining appreciation as a credible treatment. FS Heroes appreciated the opportunity to help raise awareness of PTSD symptoms and treatments with our colleagues and to share some quality time on our patio with two of Drexel University’s therapy dogs, Espresso and Mocha.”
