FS colleagues mentor local students at entrepreneurship workshop

PHILADELPHIA, March 20, 2024 — FS Investments volunteers welcomed nearly 50 students from area high schools to our headquarters for an entrepreneurship workshop with Philadelphia Financial Scholars (PFS). At the event, cohosted by the FS Foundation and FS in Color, colleagues introduced students to the firm, shared insights on career paths in financial services and helped refine their presentations for an upcoming PFS business pitch competition.
The Philadelphia Financial Scholars business pitch competition represents the culmination of the students’ participation in the nonprofit’s entrepreneurship programming. After competitions across the city, the top six finalists meet in a citywide event, receiving feedback from a panel of business leaders and vying for the opportunity to win a $1,000 investment in their business idea.
FS Investments is committed to empowering financial literacy in our communities through our ongoing partnership with Philadelphia Financial Scholars, an organization the firm cofounded in 2016 and proudly continues to support.
Philadelphia Financial Scholars provides high school students, teachers and families with the tools they need to develop financial skills, build greater wealth and achieve financial empowerment. The organization believes access to financial and entrepreneurship education is critical to overcoming systemic economic barriers. PFS partners with 28 public schools in the Philadelphia region to bring daily financial empowerment education to over 2,300 students.
