Wayne, PA – November 29, 2022 – The sixth annual Wayne Turkey Trot was yet again a great success, raising more than $28,000 for the For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, Philadelphia Financial Scholars, and Radnor Police’s K-9 Unit. More than 370 runners and walkers participated in the 5K event presented by Philadelphia-based asset manager FS Investments and sponsored by Aqua Pennsylvania, Campus Apartments, Concentus Wealth Advisors, Juno Search Partners, KeyBank, McAdam Financial, the Philadelphia Eagles and Relay Network.
“Many thanks to all the sponsors and participants for partnering with us to support these three great organizations and bring the community together,” said Mike Gerber, a partner at FS Investments and a Wayne resident who started the Wayne Turkey Trot in 2017. “It’s a wonderful way to start the Thanksgiving holiday,” Gerber added.
For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation creates unforgettable and lasting respite experiences for cancer patients and their loved ones, helping them strengthen and deepen their relationships during trying times. “We extend a hearty thank you to FS Investments and all of the sponsors,” said Marci Schankweiler, founder of For Pete’s Sake. “We are extremely thankful to be a part of this generous community and such a fun Thanksgiving event.”
Philadelphia Financial Scholars (PFS) partners with the University of Pennsylvania’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships to deliver a personal finance and entrepreneurship program for Philadelphia high school students and their families. PFS is operating in 19 high schools and providing instruction to 1,200 students during the 2022-2023 school year. “All of us at Philadelphia Financial Scholars thank the sponsors and runners of the Wayne Turkey Trot for their support of our program,” said Kerry Woodward, PFS’s Executive Director. “Kerry has transformed our PFS program and I’m delighted some of the proceeds from the event will support Kerry and PFS’s mission,” said Gerber, Founding Chair of the PFS board and a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania.
Christopher Flanagan, Superintendent of the Radnor Police Department shared, “We are grateful to FS Investments for continually organizing the event and to the sponsors and our local community participants for supporting our K-9-unit dogs.” Flanagan added, “This is a terrific way to bring the community together and kick off the holiday.”
